CBD oil for depression:

although CBD is very good for many ailments, but THC is a part of the matrix, also aiding, as the CB1  receptor is largely in the brain and nervous system, and depression is a mental/mood disorder ( the brain)

The right THC rich typically Sativa Strain can treat mood disorders as well.

Cannabis Treating postpartum depression

Changing the mother and the childs life for the better, without the side affects. ( Ignore the scare tactic at the end, & check out clinical studies below ).

Postpartum Depression, Overview:
Postpartum depression (PPD), also called postnatal depression, is a type of mood disorder associated with childbirth, which can affect both sexes.[1][3] Symptoms may include extreme sadness, low energy, anxiety, crying episodes, irritability, and changes in sleeping or eating patterns.[1] Onset is typically between one week and one month following childbirth.[1] PPD can also negatively affect the person's child.[2]
While the exact cause of PPD is unclear, the cause is believed to be a combination of physical and emotional factors.[1] These may include factors such as hormonal changes and sleep deprivation.[1] Risk factors include prior episodes of postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, a family history of depression, psychological stress, complications of childbirth, lack of support, or a drug use disorder.[1] Diagnosis is based on a person's symptoms.[2] While most women experience a brief period of worry or unhappiness after delivery, postpartum depression should be suspected when symptoms are severe and last over two weeks.[1]
"Despair". For other uses of despair, see Despair (disambiguation). For the mood disorder, see Major depressive disorder.  "Hopelessness" redirect see Hopelessness (album).
People with a depressed mood may be notably sad, anxious, or empty; they may also feel notably hopeless, helpless, dejected, or worthless. Other symptoms expressed may include senses of guilt, irritability, or anger. Further feelings expressed by these individuals may include feeling ashamed or an expressed restlessness. These individuals may notably lose interest in activities that they once considered pleasurable to family and friends or otherwise experience either a loss of appetite or overeating. Experiencing problems concentrating, remembering general facts or details, otherwise making decisions or experiencing relationship difficulties may also be notable factors in these individuals' depression and may also lead to their attempting or actually dying by suicide.
Expressed insomnia, excessive sleeping, fatigue, and vocalizing general aches, pains, and digestive problems and a reduced energy may also be present in individuals experiencing depression.

How Cannabis Aids:
Endocannabiniods, CB 1 Receptors, 80/90% located in the Brain & Nervous System, CB 2 Largely in the body & major organs.
Anandamide,         The Bliss Molecule: is the bodies version of a cannabiniod. The molecule in chocolate that give the                                                    blissful feeling, Also Naturally produced in the body; Anandamide is an important neurotransmitter,                                                  that’s also considered to be the “body’s own THC.” In fact, as it’s a source of joy and happiness,                                                        activating in many cases including during meditation. Cannabis can help correct this clinical deficiency.                                            (Anandamide consists of: Hydrogen, nitrogen, Oxygen,& Carbon,
Anandamide:                 is received by both CB1 & 2  cannabiniod receptors
Ananda, Sanskrit:
        For Bliss
PhytoCannabiniods:     are in some ways a simplified molecular version producing the same affects and more, keying into the                                             same receptors. Cannabiniods consist of: Hydrogen, Oxygen, & Carbon. (The 3 elements of life ( 1 Less                                           then Anandamide, Nitrogen ))
In conclusion:                Cannabis over & above ALL the healing properties it possess helps Anxiety, stress, depression                                                           through the function of anandamide, introducing the bliss molecule Helps to alleviate the symptoms,                                               and makes one feel happy/bliss.
Serotonin is a Neurotransmitter, that regulates the mood.
known for many years, that depletion of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain leads to depression.
The anti-depressant and intoxicating effects of cannabis are due to its chemical similarity to natural substances in the brain known as "endo-cannabinoids," which are released under conditions of high stress or pain, They interact with the brain through structures called cannabinoid CB1 receptors.  these receptors have a direct effect on the cells producing serotonin, (cannabinoids increase activity in the neurons that produce serotonin) which is a neurotransmitter that regulates the mood.
Neurogenesis: Re-growing brain cells

In the mammalian brain, the CB1 receptor is one of the most abundant G protein–coupled receptors, accounting for most, if not all, of the centrally mediated effects of cannabinoids (5). both embryonic and adult hippocampal NS/PCs express CB1 receptors. The hippocampal dentate gyrus in the adult mammalian brain contains neural stem/progenitor cells (NS/PCs)

Figure 1

capable of generating new neurons, i.e., neurogenesis. Most drugs of abuse examined to date decrease adult hippocampal neurogenesis, but the effects of cannabis (marijuana or cannabinoids) on hippocampal neurogenesis DOES promote neurogenesis. This study aimed at investigating the potential regulatory capacity of the potent synthetic cannabinoid HU210 on hippocampal neurogenesis and its possible correlation with behavioral changeis below in clinical studies. The hippocampal NS/PCs are immunoreactive for CB1 cannabinoid receptors, indicating that cannabinoids act on CB1 receptors to regulate neurogenesis. This hypothesis is supported by further findings that HU210 promotes proliferation, but not differentiation, of cultured embryonic hippocampal NS/PCs likely via a sequential activation of CB1 receptors, Gi/o proteins, and ERK signaling. Chronic, but not acute, HU210 treatment promoted neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus of adult rats and exerted anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects. X-irradiation of the hippocampus blocked both the neurogenic and behavioral effects of chronic HU210 treatment, suggesting that chronic HU210 treatment produces anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects likely via promotion of hippocampal neurogenesis.
CBD is postulated to act as an agonist to the 5HT1areceptor. Activation of the 5HT1a receptor is understood to modulate the release of serotonin in the brain. This hypothesis was confirmed in a study in which mice were pretreated with a 5HT1a antagonist, the antidepressant effects of CBD were absent. Further evidence of the role of 5HT1a is given by the observed similarities of CBD and isapirone (a 5HT1a partial agonist) in public speaking model.

Clinical Studies:

Study - 2005 ~ Nov 1; 115(11): 3104–3116. Cannabinoids promote embryonic and adult hippocampus neurogenesis and produce                                                                            anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects
